Ada Bojana
The holiday island Ada Bojana between the river and the sea in the south of Montenegro is an idyllic and almost untouched spot with beautiful sandy beach, perfect surfing conditions and delicious fish restaurants.
The triangular island of Ada Bojana in the extreme south of Montenegro is formed by the river Bojana, which flows on the border with Albania at a fork in the Adriatic Sea. It was formed by pebbles and mud, which were washed ashore by the river Bojana over time and rises on an area of almost 5 square kilometers barely more than three meters above the water level.
In the subtropical climate of the island between salt and fresh water thrives a diverse flora and fauna in an exceptional ecosystem. The entire island could be described as a huge biotope, which for the most part is still completely natural. The disadvantage of this unregulated nature is that the sandy island is constantly changing its shape. After the winter it can happen that the waves suddenly reach almost the terrace when staying at the beach.
In the southwest of the island, Ada Bojana's only hotel specializes in nudists. The majority of the rest of the island is nudist area, which is separated by the clothed bathers in the textile sector only by low fences.The right side of the river Bojana borders a 12 km long wide sandy beach, which is not crowded even in high season. Here is also textile area and plenty of space for sports such as kitesurfing and much more.

Another reason to visit the island of Ada are their seafood restaurants. Since the self-catering options on Ada Bojana are relatively minimal, an evening visit to the restaurant is a good idea anyway. The restaurants are built along the two arms of the river partly on wooden poles directly above the water and all entice with freshly caught delicacies.
Riding and Surfing on Ada Bojan
The Montenegrin coast off Ada Bojana is one of the best kite and windsurfing spots on the Adriatic. Throughout the summer, especially in the afternoons, a strong, steady wind blows, creating optimal surfing conditions for both beginners and professionals. In addition, the popular sport of riding enjoys great popularity.
